Glazed Ham

First crafted this recipe for a Thanksgiving Part Deux at my parents’. Amazing to me how much better tasting an uncured ham is!!!

Glazed Ham Recipe

Ingredients
  • 8 lb uncured, cooked ham
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 Tbsp molasses
  • 2 Tbsp spicy brown mustard
  • 3 rounded tsp minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
  2. Score 8 lb ham in a crisscross pattern, cutting into the meat.
  3. Place ham into baking dish, add 1/3 cup water into the bottom of the dish, then cover with foil.
  4. Bake for 30 mins.
  5. During this time, heat a small saucepan over medium-high heat on stovetop.
  6. Add 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup butter, 2 Tbsp molasses, 2 Tbsp spicy brown mustard, 3 rounded tsp garlic, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and 1/4 tsp ground cloves.
  7. Stir constantly until sugar is dissolved.
  8. Once the initial 30 mins in the oven passes, pull out and brush 1/3 of the glaze over the ham then return to oven, baking uncovered for 15 more mins.
  9. Once that 15 mins passes, pull out and brush on another 1/3 of the glaze then return to oven for 15 more mins.
  10. Once the second of the 15 mins has passed, pull out and brush on the remaining 1/3 of the glaze then return to oven for 15 more mins.
  11. Once the third of the 15 mins has passed, remove from oven and allow to rest for 15 mins before slicing.
