Because finding a therapist who is a great fit for you is the most important part of therapy, you will first attend a Discovery Call before starting online therapy at Danae Powers MS LMFT.

If you are in need of a different day/time for scheduling a Discovery Call than what you see as available, please consider joining the Coaching Discovery Call Wait List to request a different appointment day/time.

BIO
Experience

As a Marriage and Family Therapist with over 15 years of counseling experience, I began offering coaching via videoconferencing in 2021 because I realized there was a greater need than ever (due to the COVID-19 pandemic) for both coaching services and for experienced professionals who could offer easy access to coaching sessions.

How Coaching is Different from Therapy

The major difference between therapy and coaching is the focus of the work: therapy focuses on mental health and emotional healing, while coaching focuses on setting and achieving goals.

Purpose of Coaching

Coaching can be a great choice to find the support and skills you desire as you decide how to best address whatever issues are currently challenging you.

Everyone experiences periods of feeling stuck. Sometimes, the problems are short term, and no help is needed. And at other times, participating in coaching can make a significant difference in how you feel and possibly change your outlook on life. Coaching can help you to identify the issues causing “stuckness” and work to develop strategies and solutions to help you make your desired change.

How I Can Help

The most important part of coaching is to find a coach who fits you. That’s why I offer a Discovery Call so that you can ask some basic questions before scheduling your ongoing coaching sessions. This is not a coaching session and we don’t work on addressing goals during this time. It’s simply an opportunity for you to get a sense of how I communicate and ask questions. I’ll also use this time to determine if I believe I’m a good fit for you and your coaching goals.

The foundation of coaching is the relationship built between us. This relationship allows for a supportive, safe place for you to be able to challenge yourself to change. Clients often speak of their change being related to having someone they can talk to who is not invested in the outcome of any problem other than their best interest.

My Approach to Helping

You bring your own strengths (no matter how long unused or forgotten) to our work together. We’ll work together to identify these strengths, add new ones, and minimize (or eliminate) the patterns that keep you stuck.

My Role as Your Coach

At the same time, or at different times, I may be:
• a sounding board for your thoughts and feelings about the issue you’re working with
• an educator in skill-building
• a coach for problem-solving and decision-making
• a model for healthy, effective communication
• a cheerleader of your accomplishments

Frequency of Coaching

We will meet weekly for at least the first 4-6 weeks, and then as often as we mutually agree will be beneficial to help you meet your coaching goals.

Duration of Coaching

Ideally, coaching ends when you’ve met your coaching goals that we set in the beginning. However, you may choose to end coaching at any time and for any reason.

Having attended any length of coaching, I welcome you to return for sessions as you need or desire. Sometimes we need a session as a:
• booster
• “Help me get me unstuck because I’m feeling overwhelmed.”

A Bit More…

I love to teach and support. To me, that is what being a coach is about. And, my goal is to truly be in partnership with you along the way.

I look forward to answering any questions you may have!

Plant the seeds so you may witness the harvest!

There is nothing more rewarding to me than those moments when you come to believe that you really do have what it takes to achieve your goals! It is exciting to be a partner in planting the seeds for positive accomplishments.
